St Mary the Virgin, Bathwick, BA2 4EB
The Handful Chamber Choir presents a double bill of choral masterpieces by two giants of the Baroque era. Handel’s Dixit Dominus and Bach’s Magnificat are both beautiful sacred settings, first performed in the early 18th century and still considered some of the composers’ finest works. For this unmissable concert, the choir will be singing alongside professional instrumentalists and soloists in an evening of exquisite music.
With Lilium Convallium: An Early Music Ensemble
Founded in 2019 by The Handful’s Musical Director, Vicente Chavarría, Lilium Convallium focuses on music from the 17th and 18th centuries and showcases the talent of alumni of the Royal College of Music and Royal Academy of Music in London. To bolster their forces, the ensemble will be joined by organist Alan Fellows and guest wind and brass players.
Featuring Five Soloists
Eleanor Bray | Soprano
Natalie Houlston | Soprano
Collin Shay | Countertenor
James Botcher | Tenor
Matthew Nicholls | Bass-Baritone
Come and hear Britten's Rejoice in the Lamb with organ. We'll also be singing music by Busto, Buchenberg and more! It promises to be a feast of choral music in the fabulous acoustic of Prior Park Chapel.
